Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

    Is this product for me?

The Post Host™ clamp system is primarily designed for those with fences constructed using galvanized steel fence posts. There is not much area or thickness on the wooden components to mount much of anything. So if you do have this type of fence construction and want to add some function and/or beauty to your fence, then yes, this product is for you.

What material are the Post Host™ clamps and mounting plate made of?

    Aluminum

How are the Post Host™ clamps made?

Each clamp is cut out of sheet metal using a CO2 laser (cool right?) and pressed using a set of 3D printed plastic mandrels and press, essentially by hand.

What size posts does the Post Host™ clamp fit around?

Currently, we only support 2 3/8" fence posts. However, we do plan to expand our product line to accommodate 1 5/8" fence posts in the near future.

What are the dimensions of the Post Host™ clamp mounting face?

The clamp is 2" tall. The mounting face is 7/8" wide and features (2) 0.325" square holes 1" apart, the perfect fit for a 5/16" carriage bolt.

Will any part of the Post Host™ system rust over time?

The aluminum clamp and mounting plate will not rust like steel, however, some oxidation (white film) may occur over time. Other hardware, such as the black oxide coated steel nuts/bolts and the powder coated steel plant hangers are rust resistant, but will rust over time and is to be expected of components of this nature.

What height should I mount my bird house?

As our kits are primarily used on fence posts, you'll be limited to 6' in most cases. At 4' - 6', you can attract a multitude of bird varieties: Bluebirds, Wrens, Nuthatches, Chickadees, and others. For more information on this, please check out NWF.org and Sialis.org.
